The parties may also agree to pay part of the mehir upfront and the remainder on a deferred basis.
When determining the mehir, agreeing only on the amount is not enough. The type of mehir, its measure, the time of payment, and the payment method should be clearly stated. For example, if the mehir will be set in gold, the type, grams, or quantity of the gold should be specified; if it will be set in money, the amount and the currency should be made clear.
